Crimes
I'm pleased to report that no crimes have been reported in your area again during the past week.
Distraction Burglary
I'm afraid that I have to report that a distraction burglary was reported to have occurred in Crossways during the evening of Sunday 21st March. It is reported that a girl aged 17 or 18 years of age knocked on an elderly ladies door and asked for help to look for an injured cat in the ladies garden. The girl was initially left unattended at the door whilst the occupant went for a torch; they then spent 4 or 5 minutes in the garden looking for the cat. The girl left without a cat being located and it was then discovered that a purse and contents were missing. The lady remembers the sound of a car engine running during this time but she didn't see a car outside her house.
This is the first distraction burglary that has been reported in the Dorchester section for several months. Can we please keep an eye on any vulnerable neighbours and report suspicious visitors and incidents because we don't want to be reporting any further similar incidents.
